Role Profile

Bunzl Catering Supplies, part of the Bunzl Catering & Hospitality Division, is the leading distributor of disposables, packaging and hygiene solutions to the hospitality and catering sectors in the UK. Delivering to a variety of customers in both the private and public sector from small independent cafe owners, local health trusts and schools to national hotel and restaurant chains.

As the exclusive recruitment partner for Bunzl Catering, Cast UK are leading the search for a Supply Chain Manager to be based in the Midlands. This is a network wide role, with UK wide travel expected. The incumbent to this role will provide direction, leadership and management of the supply chain function within the business; ensuring the function is fit for the future through the development and implementation of an appropriate team structure, strategy, stocking policy and working practices. Responsible for all areas of Stock forecasting, demand planning, supply planning and stock ordering across the multi-site network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and manage a highly skilled team capable of delivering excellent results.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in areas relating to the demand and supply elements of the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with customers and sales colleagues to understand their needs and ensure high levels of product availability and customer service.
  • Lead the implementation and roll out of a new stock forecasting, demand planning and ordering system.
  • Identify, implement, and maintain appropriate forecasting tools and systems across all sites.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate stocking policies to meet business needs.
  • Act as the supply chain lead on projects concerning major customer implementations and exits, network re-configurations and warehouse opening and closings.
  • Oversee the process of ordering all stock lines from both domestic and import suppliers.
  • Ensure routines are in place to deliver a smooth inbound supply of goods to support efficient warehouse activity; by manipulating lead times, reorder multiples and economic order quantities, etc…
  • Work in partnership with the Operational and inventory teams to balance stock needs and operational space constraints.
  • Build relationships, appraise performance, and implement KPI's to manage inbound supplier service levels.
  • Ability to understand and balance product availability and customer service with stock holding and inventory costs.
  • Inventory optimisation to ensure the correct quantities of the correct products are located in the most appropriate warehouse. (Stock balancing and MEIO)
  • Manage stock holding to minimise slow and obsolete stock levels and their impact on working capital.

Skills & Experience

  • Detailed understanding of the modern Supply Chain; covering both domestic and import suppliers.
  • Extensive knowledge of stock forecasting and demand planning tools and techniques.
  • Previously employment in a senior supply chain, demand planning or stock forecasting management role.
  • Evidence of operating at a strategic level.
  • A proven track record of building and leading high performing teams across a multi-site network.
  • Relex system and system implementation experience is desirable
